Petrobras studying bids for PLSV tender
Petrobras is evaluating bids for the provision of Pipe Laying Support Vessels (PLSVs) with a minimum top tension capacity of 120 and 200 tonnes.
According to IHS-Petrodata, the proposals were submitted on
January 31.
Industry sources suggest only Subsea 7 and Cecon are taking part in
the competition and are offering one vessel each for the first and
second lots, respectively.
It is unclear which vessel is being bid by Subsea 7, but Cecon's
first pipelay vessel is scheduled to be delivered from Davie Yards
in mid-2012. The unit, named Constructor I, will be equipped with a
DP3 system and a 250-tonne subsea crane. If the vessel secures a
contract, it will be required to begin work on November 30,
2012.
The charter for the 120-tonne unit has been requested to begin two
months earlier, on October 1, 2012.
The duration of the charters will be between four and six years
with extension options up to equal period.
