Navigate safely and avoid pirates

IKM Instrutek AS presents FLIR thermal imaging cameras for use in the marine and offshore market. To be able to navigate and see clearly in darkness and conditions with bad view is crucial. Recently, threats such as pirates, has unfortunately been all over the news.

To be able to see and have full control around the ship is a great advantage, and can both save time, unwanted situations and life. In addition to use onboard ship, the cameras are also ideal for port security and other land based areas which requires security at night.

The FLIR cameras, are so-called un-heated thermal cameras and generates images based solely on temperature fluctuations. The thermal imager most not be confused with ordinary infrared cameras, which reinforces existing light source. These will become almost unusable if a strong light source comes in the picture, or they get direct light.

Thermal cameras don’t see light at all - only temperature differences. You can actually look directly at the sun with the imager, and not be blinded in direct head-light. The camera image looks almost like a picture from a black & white TV. You may activate different contrast colours, to highlight details and regulate the sensibility of the detectors according to pre-determined levels. Everything is handled through the joystick-controller. There’s no need for training to start to use the FLIR thermal imaging cameras - a quick review of the users manual, and you’re ready to get started.

IKM Instrutek AS stocks both the Navigator static and the Navigator pan/tilt models, in addition to the high-end Voyager camera.
